Rating (0-5): 1

Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale is a novelty beer, and nothing more. A very seasonal beer only made in the late fall and luckily only available during the same time. The idea is to capitalize on the pumpkin mania surrounding Halloween, Thanksgiving, and to a lesser extent Christmas.

All I can say is that as a gimmick beer it isn't horrendous. That is the highest honor that I can see fit to bestow upon it. It has virtually no initial flavor, it tastes even more bland than Bud Light on the first swig. All of the distinction comes from the after taste, which is nice on the first beer, and extremely annoying on all subsequent brews. This is a one beer for yourself and one each for five friends, kind of beer, it is not a beer you want to party with by any stretch of the imagination.

The goal of the aftertaste is pretty simple, to taste as much like pumpkin pie as humanly possible, and it does so in a so-so fashion. It certainly tastes more like a pumpkin pie than any other beer I've personally indulged in, but it is still fairly weak. And as it turns out, I don't normally have beer with my pumpkin pie, and the two just don't mix well. The end result is a beer that I cannot recommend to anyone other than those who want to taste every beer on the market, and to you I say, "Cheers!"
