Boulevard Lunar Ale
Type: Ale
Body: Medium/Light
Flavor: Fruity
Rating (0-5): 3.5

Boulevard Lunar Ale This is a nice even toned brew. It has some nice aftertaste that is both fruity and a little bit malty. Not at all a bad combination. While I am normally not a man who goes for beers with the light citrus aftertaste, there are times when it is exactly what the proverbial doctor ordered.

When I first went out to find a beer to review tonight, I was actually looking for Boulevard's spring seasonal Irish Ale, unfortunately, it was not in stock at the local liquor hut. So I decided to stick with the brewery and try one I'd never had before, and Lunar Ale was there to fill the void. Don't worry I will get Irish Ale reviewed, as it should still be available until the end of April.

Lunar Ale is good, it isn't as nice as Boulevard's Pale Ale, but then again, it isn't the same thing. It has a good initial swigarino, that is light citrine and with a hint of wheat beer flavor, but not exactly a wheat beer. I was expecting a little more flavor, but was not disappointed by the less intense beverage that I received. It has a nice acid taste, but no more overpowering than a soda, it's easy to drink, always a nice touch in a beer. Too many small brewers focus on the "artistry" of their beer, and not enough on the drinkability of them. I've found that Boulevard can always be relied upon to deliver an artistic beer that also appeals to real beer drinkers. Lunar Ale did not fail to deliver.

The end result is an easy drinking, mildly fruity tasting beer that nearly any true beer aficionado can appreciate. If you really don't like wheat beers, you may not be excited about this one, but then again, it may change your perspective.
